How do I know if my loved one qualifies for Medicare Part A benefits?

Answered By Hank Thomssen, Editor

In order for your loved one be qualified for Medicare Part A benefits, they need to have a Medicare card that reads "hospital insurance". Also, they must have spent three consecutive days in the hospital as a minimum requirement and the day of discharge will not count.

The physician must also certify that your loved one needs nursing care on a continuing basis. The nursing care must also relate to the reasons for being hospitalized.
