How much of that taxpayer corporate bailout money could have been applied towards healthcare?

Can you answer MadLibs's question about Healthcare?:

To make it more affordable? Less money for individuals to have to spend on healthcare could have been put back into our economy.

Oh well. Silly me for thinking that the hard working tax payer comes 1st before the needs of big business that has made its own poor decisions.

It's not enough money to fund health care.

When government health care comes, if it comes, you will give $.50 of every dollar you earn to the government whether you are sick or not.

Holy Cow @ 5:30 pm

From what I read $85 billion could fund health care for everyone for 6 months.

I oppose the bailout too but….. I would suspect there's a significant overlap between the people whose loans are being bought by the government and the people who "can't afford healthcare."

RedBad M @ 12:35 pm

All of it. It would have funded nearly all of it too. But Noooooo, big corporate needs come before that of Joe American.

It's not right for the taxpayers to bail out banks or be forced to pay for others healthcare.

So, you want government to take over healthcare after teh debacle they made of the housing industry?

"Typical" liberal Democrat. Never learns from previous mistakes!

You don't need health care until you're sick.

Why in the world would you want the government to pay hundreds of billions for pieces of paper?

Don't cop out by calling it sick children, they ain't sick! They just don't have insurance.

I feel your pain. But us hard working taxpayers would be hurting a lot more if the bailout didn't happen.

Most of it. better yet it could have gone to bail out the unemployed losing their homes. If we bailed the lenders out and forgave them of their loans, why aren't the home owners' loans forgiven?

If we had had responsible leadership in place, this economic crisis would not have occurred and the money that is going towards these bailouts could have provided health care for all Americans. Unfortunately, Republicans were in power and the results are self-evident.

None. We don't have that money. We borrowed it.

These failures were not the fault of the fed's…it is greed and decades of loopholes and an attitude of Wow the roulette table is free today..The fed's saw it coming but hey, they were making bank just like everyone else. And since we do now own 80% of AIG and AIG provides insurance…it could be part of the plan to use some of that to help some people…but really…aren't you kinda sick of helping out some joe…who then invites 30 million others to the table?. Since employee health insurance is available and you want insurance? get a job.

When Bush first got into office before 911 we were well off & he was making cuts to poor people. I knew that was right & it wasn't neccessary….so this is BS about not having money for health care they always find it for what they want…I can not believe people are still talking about Obama costing us money. His best friend is Oprah, she is a rags to richs story with integrity & he knows how to transform lives they are still putting him down & ignoring the trillions that have disappeared & this people NEVER have e-mail….We will still get health care under Obama/Biden/Clinton. Bill knows how to bring back the jobs, Hillary will take care of the health care. This will get so many people off of gov. assistance & become tax payers & that can pay for it right there. Ok, the economy will start circulating we are going to to be fine if we can get this people in jail who have done so much harn to this country. It is so sad that good people actually believe this people even the way things are today. I hope for thier sake they snap out of it before someone tries to sell them some Ocean front property in Arizona.

It would have paid for health care for several years.

Bush and his cronies are demanding (for a start) $700billion of our money with no controls, no strings, no plan and no guarantees.

The loans that will be purchased by the government have already gone through foreclosure. Like the Bush s&L scam during the Reagan administration, only crooks will benefit.

Everybody should be contacting their elected employees in Washington and demanding Congressional oversight with veto powers, guarantees of repayment, and a clear and detailed plan on what they plan to do with our money.

Everybody should keep in mind that it was a similar bailout ram-rodded by the Federal Reserve bankers that caused the Hoover Depression to be so bad.

Biran_Sefar @ 8:39 am

Americans are working harder and harder just to not even get by…and all to help pay off the foolishness of the mega-wealthy. This bailout is nothing less than the government putting on a ski mask and holding a gun to the heads of every man, woman, and child in the U.S. and demanding that we pay the bill that all the bankers and other THIEVES have run up.

Tell your elected officials to VOTE NO ON THE BAIL OUT!!
